Based on something my three-year-old great-granddaughter told me, the book is her book. The illustrator managed to catch my Haylee's essence in her art work.
Haylee is now four, and she "loves" pink.
Stolen became my release of the fear and anger caused by two of my grandchildren being stolen by their father. After nearly five years, I had to find a way to deal with not knowing if they were alive or not, well or not, lost forever or not.
The book is fiction, but it contains many real experiences and memories woven into the fictitious life of the main character. At the time the book ended and went to press, we still didn't know if the grandchildren lived or not, but the theme of the novel remained rebuilding one's life when trauma destroys it.
