Another well-known author leaves us
Another well-known mystery writer passed away. Robert Parker died Monday morning of natural causes. He was 77.
The writer of over 50 novels, including the popular "Spencer" series, which was the basis of the Spencer for Hire TV series, Parker, although not a favorite author, provided me with some interesting reading over the years. I was a big Spencer fan.
I hate to see some of our models for mystery writing leave us. Although I don't consider Robert Parker in the same category as Tony Hillerman, both men were famous in his own way and a loss to the reading community.
So, I say,"Good-by, Robert Parker and Spencer. We will miss you and your stories. At least we can read those you left behind."

Another tragic loss to the publishing world. I, too, loved his books.
Spencer was a cool creation.

He wasn't my favorite, either, but I have read some of his books. I'm sure his presence will be missed by his loyal fans.
Parker's main legacy to mystery writing was his bringing the hard-boiled detective back into vogue.
