Robert Lee Zabel, a sad goodbye
March 31, 2015, Robert Lee Zabel left this life of pain and suffering. He fought a long, hard battle, but finally his heart gave up, even though his determination remained strong. His last words, ones he was able to articulate at all, were to me, "I love you." I spent the last few minutes of his life holding his hand, comforting him, telling him we would be together again soon, that I love him, to rest.
As a memorial to my husband of 53 years, 41 days, I will blog about facing loss and grief. The next six to eight posts will cover how I work my way through the stages of grief and loss, how hard but necessary dealing with Robert's loss is.
I will post the first part of this series tomorrow.
