Life Is Good Award

What would be a better post on my 49th anniversary than the Life is good award.

Barbara Ehrentreu awarded me the Life is Good Award. Thank you, Barbara.

Now, I have to choose ten other bloggers to award with Life Is Good and answer some questions.

Ten Survey Questions:

1. If you blog anonymously, are you happy doing this? If you are not anonymous, do you wish that you had started out anonymously, so that you could be anonymous now?

No, I don't blog anonymously and wouldn't want to be. I don’t post anything that I wouldn’t want others to read.

2. Describe an incident that shows your inner stubborn side.

I still look forward to every day, which is a sign of my stubbornness, but one incident? Hmmm … I’m facing a second knee replacement, and, even knowing the difficulties involved for me, I’m doing it.

3. What do you see when you really look at yourself in the mirror?

More and more I see my mother when I see myself in a mirror.

4. What is your favorite summer cold drink?

I am a recovering Pepsi-holic. I had to give it up since I’m diabetic. However, I’ve discovered Pepsi Max, and it’s soooo good ice cold.

5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do?

Time for myself? What’s that?

6. Is there something that you still want to accomplish in your life? What is it?

First, I want to have all my family together again at least one more time, and not at either of our funerals. Then, I need to find a way to write all the novels running around in my head.

7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever, the shy person, or always ditching?

Hmmm … I guess I could be categorized as everyone’s friend. The guys would ask me for advice about their girlfriends. The girls wanted my advice about their boyfriends.

8. If you close your eyes and want to visualize a very poignant moment in your life, what would you see?

Since this is my 49^th anniversary, I would have to say watching Robert watch me march down the aisle on my father’s arm.

9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people or events?

I have a combination of sharing in my blog.

10. If you had the choice to sit down and read a book or talk on the phone, which would you do and why?

I usually don’t have the choice. I slip in reading and writing time in the middle of the night when talking on the phone isn’t an option. For a few friends, I’d drop everything to visit with them.

The Best Liar , uh, Creative Writer Blogger Award

Lea Schizas honored me and five others with the Creative Writer Blogger Award. Thanks, Lea, I think. The catch lies in the rules.

First the rules:

Six lies and one truth? Can anyone guess which one is the truth?

1- I once managed a car/truck repair shop.
2- I can speak four languages proficiently.
3- I never use covers (blanket, quilt, comforter)any time of the year.
4- I gave up smoking and drinking when I was sixteen.
5- I've been married twice, but the last one lasted.
6- I spent two nights in jail. No, I won't say what I did or didn't do.
7- I've had five children.

I'm now required to pass the award to seven bloggers. As many blogs I know that meet the definition of being creative, choosing only seven was difficult. However, after many hours of mental gymnastics, I pass this award to the following:

Now, for the seven (7) things people might find interesting about me; although, I'm not sure what about me might be interesting.

1. I had twenty-two school changes.
2. I lived in Morocco from October of eighth grade until April of ninth grade.
3. Guam is a place I would like to visit, since I lived there in part of the second and third grades.
4. I was born in Texas, but Oklahoma has always been home.
5. I thought marrying a man who had always stayed in one place for over twenty-two years would mean I wouldn't move very much -- boy, was I in for a surprise.
6. Robert and I have lived in thirty-six places in over forty-seven years.
7. We have lived in this house seventeen years -- home at last.

Lemons, lemons, lemons?

Holly Jahangiri, whose blog is Do I Have to Spell It Out, kindly gave me the “When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade” Award. Hmm ... How many gallons of lemonade can one make a day?

Tagged for the Honest Scrap Award again

I received an email from Jean Henry Mead, telling me she tagged Brain Cells & Bubble Wrap for the Honest Scrap Award. Her ten honest secrets are listed on A Western Historical Happening.

Scrap means left overs, fragments, discarded material, and many times truth and honesty is discarded material, considered fragments and left over. So, we need to tell it like it is, and let the scraps fall where they will.

The guidelines for winning this award include the following:

1. List 10 honest things about yourself (make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep)
2. Pass the award on to 7 bloggers

The 10 honest things about me, maybe not interesting, but I'll try:

1. When I was eight, I wrote my first poem during a school unit on poetry. I fell in love with poetry and still express my inner most feeling with verse.
2. I lost my youngest baby, my father, my grandmother, and my mother during the Thanksgiving/Christmas season over a period of many years, but the loss still remains.
3. I feel guilty that my younger son, youngest living child, was born with brain damage, even though I "know" I didn't do it. However, he overcame and is now a teacher and coach with a PhD.
4. I never planned to be a publisher, yet here I am.
5. I was always the guys' best friend when in school. It was funny since I was the girl who never dated until after she turned sixteen, and the boys always asked my advice.
6. When I was twelve years old, I knew I would be a teacher. Although, I never realized I'd be married with three children in school before I did.
7. My husband promised me at least 50 years of marriage when we married, and I intend to help him keep his promise. Forty-seven is coming up.
8. The guy that "broke my heart" when I was in high school because I wasn't able to help him in his career ended up left by his wife because he became disabled. Hmmm ...
9. I have two friends that, even if we've been apart for years, pick up where we left off.
10. I'm really rather shy and not good at promoting myself, not good at all.
