I've lost enough friends

I've lost friends because they moved or we moved. But that type loss is just physical, and connections can still be there through letters, phone calls, email, and/or visits.

The losses that require many layers of bubble wrap are the permanent-in-this-lifetime ones. Two dear friends suffered from and fought cancer until cancer won. I miss them and always will until such time as we're together again.

As I write this, my best friend and adopted sister is undergoing open heart surgery. We didn't know her heart struggled with multiple blockages, serious ones of 95 - 99 percent. Her doctor put her in the hospital because of an asthma flare that couldn't be controlled. She didn't improve after four days. Instead she had two heart "episodes" Sunday evening and night. Monday her doctor had her transported by ambulance to the Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. This morning she is in surgery, which will last five to six hours.

I pray that God wraps her in bubble wrap and keeps her safe.

Oh Vivian, I am so sorry. She's in my thoughts and prayers. My mom went through the same surgery a few years back. Stay strong and please let her know I'm thinking of her when you can.

God bless.

Thanks for the prayers and thoughts.

I received word from one of her sons about an hour ago. Jacque came through the surgery well, and now if she does as well with recovery, she will be in good shape in time.

Now, she will be in ICU for at least 2 or 3 days, and heavily medicated for the next 48 hours.

Her heart is very strong, especially considering the blocked veins.

Hopefully your friend will keep improving. It's hard to lose a good friend, especially when you don't know it's coming and it's out of the blue.

I'll say an extra prayer for her.

Thank you for your prayers. For those who don't know, Jacque is the head of the editorial department for 4RV Publishing.

Now we wait. Jacque is a fighter, thankfully, and she had a deep faith that will sustain her.
