Day's End Lullaby by mother and daughter
Karen Cioffi is a full time writer and co-author (with her daughter Roybn Feltman) of the sweet and gentle bedtime picture book, Day's End Lullaby. She is also the creator of Karen and Robyn - Writing for Children and is a member of SCBWI and Children's Writers Coaching Club. Karen lives in New York City with her husband, Donald.
Karen wrote the lullaby to the story over 30 years ago. Her firstborn didn’t like sleeping, so Karen sang it to her and paced the hallway carrying her to get her to sleep and again when she awoke in the middle of the night. Karen did the same thing with her second daughter, and it became a family lullaby. The lullaby became a book after Karen's first grandson came and her daughter and co-author, Robyn, thought it would make a great bedtime story.

It must have worked, so they wanted to share. Great idea.
Now more children can get a good night's sleep.

Hi, Morgan,
That's exactly what happened! We'll be working on a number of other picture books in the future.
And, thanks, Vivian, for hosting me this tour!
I hope this new law doesn't destroy your plans to have many more children's books, Karen.
A wonderful idea to make up a new lullaby for your kids, then create the book.
I took standard lullabies and changed the ones that I thought were scary. For instance, in Rock a Bye Baby, the cradle never fell - daddy caught it.
It's always fun to have something the little ones can relate to and that they enjoy. I know some never tire of the lullabies and want them over and over and over.
Does music accompany the book? Like a CD of the music or do you have a tune that you just sing to? I'm just curious if you wrote music too. Thanks for sharing with us - E :)
Hey, Vivian, I hope not.
Helen, I know. The old standard lullabies are actually frightening. I made mine sweet and soothing.
Elysabeth, I wrote the music also and the sheet music is included in the book.
I do have CDs of it for the family and I also have it on my website:

I know the url is long, I just couldn't think of a good name at the time.
There's a button to click to listen to the music - I think it's on the about the book page.
