Have you ever wondered what happened to someone?

I've met many people over my lifetime and don't know what happened to many of them or where they are. However, not knowing about one person causes my heart to ache.

She and I never met face to face, but I thought I knew her very well. I thought we were close, that we would remain in contact for years to come.

But, she dropped out of my life as if she had never been there. Poof! Gone with no sign, not even bread crumbs to follow. I have no idea if she exists any more, but I know she apparently doesn't in my life. Her last message left a promise that we would stay in touch, but months have passed. I have no idea how to reach her unless she contacts me first.

Becky, for that's the name I know, was so giving, maybe too much so. She owes me nothing. If anything I owe her. But she came to mean so much, and a hole remains where once she was.

She sent me photos, but were they really of her? If so, she's a lovely woman. We wrote a book together, actually two. Some of her poetry remains in Walking the Earth: Life's Perspectives in Poetry, and a note signed by her.

People told me I was nuts to allow her to become so important to me. Maybe I was or am, but I gained much from knowing her, even if I never did really know her.

A part of me will always wonder where she is and if she is all right. Also, I'll always be glad if and when I hear from her. Life's road can have some strange twists and turns, so who knows what may happen? Not me.

I can really relate to this, Vivian. I had a friend of mine, Madle was her name. And we used to talk all the time (like your friend it was never face to face), we were really connected by our writing, and then just one day she disappeared. She deleted her Writing.com account, gave me all of her Gift Points and that was the last I heard of her. So, yeah, it kills me that I have no idea where she is or if she's okay.

Let's do hope we find them eventually.

I too had a friend who disappeared from WDC. Trish, (bymydesigns) we exchanged home addresses, and spent time keeping in touch frequently. Now I can't even get her to let me know she's ok. I miss her!

Hmm ... W.Com seems to bring many people into our lives and then out. It's sad when we no longer have contact with people we wish we could always be close to.

That's the sad thing about life - people come & go. But it's frustrating not to know what happened...

Yes, Diane, it's like reading a book and finding the last pages missing.

I wonder how she's doing? Seems odd, doesn't it? I hope she's okay.

Very strange. At least in the past I had a way to get a message to her, but now ...

I hope she is all right.
